An Outdoor Lab
An experimental lab to explore and actively shape the future of humanity on our planet and beyond.
In the words of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, “The earth is the cradle of humanity, but humankind cannot stay in the cradle for all eternity”, the Rosenberg Future Park is a playfield for our students to anticipate and shape the future of humanity on earth and beyond. It is the outdoor equivalent the Rosenberg CreativeLab where art, science and technology form experimental extensions of human imagination and creativity.

The Climate Garden
Two domes nurture hybrid climate zones to research and predict the impact of weather conditions by the year 2085.
The Climate Garden host a hybrid climate zone, which effectively demonstrates the result of global warming and promotes planet-centred thinking. In this collaborative project with the Department of Environmental Science at the ETH Zurich, the predicted weather conditions of 2085 are devised to create a comparison to the average temperature in Switzerland differing between +2ºC and +4ºC. More than 10 types of sensors throughout the two domes continually collect and communicate data for analysis used in sudent projects.
The Vertical Farm
Rosenberg students collaborate with industry pioneers to develop revolutionary solutions for 21st-century farming.
Vertical farming is an attempt to answer one of humanity`s most pressing questions: How can we provide sustainable food for our daily needs? New technologies have brought forward a system of circular irrigation and a farming method that reduces production costs and protects natural resources. Designed by Rosenberg students and produced by our ETH-affiliated partner Yasai, this vertical farming edition is one of many examples demonstrating student work guided by industry specialists.
The Wind Trees
Powering the Rosenberg Future Park by harnessing the abundant wind energy in a smart and innovative way.
Action needs energy. All of the projects within the Rosenberg Future Park are connected to a self-sustaining energy network. In addition to familiar sources of renewable energy such as solar-energy, the innovative Wind Trees collect wind power to feed the a selection of electronic devices within the Rosenberg Climate Garden and parking lot.
The Space Habitat
The Rosenberg Space Habitat serves as an experimental lab for students to explore and actively shape the future of humanity on our planet and beyond.
Co-created by Rosenberg students and SAGA Space Architects with sustainable materials to intentionally fit inside SpaceX’s Starship rocket, the structure is the world’s tallest 3D-printed polymer structure measuring 23-feet high and is base for Boston Dynamics’ Spot - an unprecedented robot that helps unlock our students’ creative engineering ambitions to develop world-changing applications of the future.
