Questions about academics? We have the answers.

WHY DOES ROSENBERG  OFFER MORE ACADEMIC CHOICE THAN ANY OTHER SCHOOL?

At Rosenberg, we offer more academic choice than any other school because we believe one size doesn’t fit all.  Each  of our academic pathways has  distinct advantages depending on students’ talents, strengths and plans for university admission. We prepare them for any number of examinations, including CEFR A1-C2, SAT®, IELTs™, IGCEs, GCSE A-Levels, Advanced Placement®, and IB®. Offering this unprecedented choice of external examinations and school-leaving qualifications makes us one of the best boarding schools in the world, and allows us to provide the best fit for each individual student. Careful guidance by our Artisan teams of academic mentors and teachers ensures that Rosenberg students receive a challenging international education that focuses on the individual, not the average.

WHAT LEVEL OF ENGLISH IS REQUIRED TO APPLY TO ROSENBERG?

Students speak English at Rosenberg, but we also cater for students who still need to improve their English-language skills but already demonstrate talent and potential in other areas. Rosenberg has decades of experience in teaching English as a foreign language and we have a dedicated learning center run by trained specialists. Lessons are fun and students are prepared for a wide range of courses, learning the academic terminology specifically required for each subject. Each student’s programme is carefully monitored, adapted and personalised, to include increasingly advanced courses in a full range of subjects as their English skills increase.

DO I NEED TO LEARN GERMAN AT ROSENBERG?

Not unless you want to. Unlike other boarding schools in Switzerland, at Rosenberg you may study a local language but it is not a requirement. Rosenberg offers a vast choice of foreign languages at all levels, ensuring that students can even continue their studies in their mother tongue while acquiring an additional foreign language. For those keen to learn or study in German, we offer a solid enrichment programme throughout all grades with the option to graduate with the “GIB,” commonly referred to as the German International Baccalaureate®.

HOW OFTEN WILL I BE INFORMED ABOUT MY CHILD’S PROGRESS AT ROSENBERG?

Rosenberg will update parents on their children’s progress as often as they deem necessary. In addition to our report cards and progress reports, parents may request frequent updates about their child’s progress across all subjects as well as their development in boarding school. We even provide weekly comments until a new student has fully settled into their learning environment.

WHAT IS THE LEVEL OF ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AT ROSENBERG?

Our close support and monitoring enables students to produce consistently outstanding academic results. For example, our A2 A-Level results include 84% “A’s” and “A*” (Star), putting our students firmly among the best performers in the world. It is also not uncommon for Rosenberg students to take qualifications or classes well ahead of their age-group. Yet, we are not an “exam-factory” and believe that excellent exam grades are ultimately the result of an education that focuses on understanding the content, not memorising it.
